Without much doubts, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on further strengthening their current squad by signing some new players before the end of the January transfer window.

Do remember that the West London club have endured a rather disappointing 2022/2023 season so far as they are currently occupying the 9th position on the Premier League table.

Due to this poor run of form, Chelsea football club are very much aware of the need to utilise the ongoing winter transfer window to buy some players and improve their current team.

It is believed that Chelsea are on the lookout for an improvement in midfield and have been linked with a transfer move for highly-rated Benfica central midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The 21-year-old Argentina International, who has been with Benfica football club since departing River Plate last year has proven to be an important member of the first-team squad.

The young midfielder has enjoyed an interesting 2022/2023 football season at Benfica so far, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.

His impressive performances in midfield is believed to have caught the attention of Chelsea and according to reports from The Sun, the Blues are doing all they can in order to sign him.

The reports further claimed that Chelsea are really desperate to sign Enzo Fernandez and are now willing to pay £79million transfer fee while also adding Hakim Ziyech and two other players in the deal.

It is believed that Chelsea manager Graham Potter wants to improve his midfield options and he will not hesitate to complete the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica football club.

But then, it remains to be seen if the proposed £79million offer and players inclusion will be enough to convince Benfica into offloading the young Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea before the end of the January transfer window.
