Ex-Barcelona forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made a return back to the English top flight after Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea finalised a deal to recruit the veteran striker from Spanish side, Barcelona for a reported fee of £12 million, both parties confirmed on Thursday.
The Gabon international has put pen to paper on a 2-year deal at the London based club.
The Ex-Arsenal Superstar signed for the Blaugrana in January 2021 on a Bosman deal from the Gunners, but dropped down the pecking order after Robert Lewandowski joined from Bayern Munich this summer
Despite this, manager Xavi Hernandez still wanted to keep the striker, but the Catalan outfit had to entertain bids due to their depth in attack and the necessity to raise money for further investments.
“I’m excited. I’m eager to get started and i consider it an honor to be a player of this club. “I have some unfinished business in the EPL, so it’s nice to be back and incredibly exciting.” Aubameyang told the club’s official website.
Aubameyang will don the No 9 shirt for the Former European Champions for the 22/23 campaign.
