Thomas Tuchel could hit four birds with one stone as Chelsea’s latest transfer target looks to solve the club’s stockpiling problem.

Marina Granovskaia looks set to take the next step towards rectifying Chelsea’s infamous reputation as a club that stockpiles players.

The Blues’ loan network has evolved into a world-leading programme that provides emerging talent the opportunity to learn their trade under the guidance of loan player technical coach Paulo Ferreira and his team.

Over the years, Roman Abramovich’s legion has lined the club with an annual financial safety net while also providing opportunities for individuals who have caught the manager’s eye.

However, before the announcement of new plans to regulate loans from July 2022 subject to the approval of the Fifa Council, Chelsea’s network was hoarding players without offering a clear pathway into the first-team.

Chelsea’s latest transfer target looks to solve this problem while also opening doors for high-priority signings that may interest Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues have taken an interest in Anderlecht defender Sergio Gomez, according to TEAMtalk.

This season, Gomez has impressed under Vincent Kompany, directly contributing towards 16 goals and assists from left-back in just 21 Jupiler Pro League games.

In the summer, he joined the Belgian side from Borussia Dortmund and has thrived since converting from a central-midfielder to a full-back, just like David Alaba was in the early stages of his career.
