EPL: Chelsea’s lineup that could beat Man City tomorrow

Published

Chelsea have got that winning feeling back thanks to two victories over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and an FA Cup success over Chesterfield.

The Blues will be hoping to continue with the positivity when they go up against league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

In this article, SportsBlitz.ng takes a look at how Thomas Tuchel could set up his men in the game tomorrow. Check it out below:

Formation

There’s no indication that shows that Thomas Tuchel is ready to change his ‘preferred’ 3-4-3 formation, as such, he’s likely to stick with it in tomorrow’s game.

Goalkeeper

Edouard Mendy is unavailable due to his AFCON participation, as such, Kepa Arizabalaga should be the man in the goal.

Defence

Protecting the goal should be the trio of Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Midfield

In the middle of the park, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are expected to continue their partnership while club captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso occupy the wing-back spots.

Attack

There’s a lot of competition in Chelsea’s attack, however, SportsBlitz.ng thinks that Thomas Tuchel will prefer to play Kai Havertz as the club’s center-forward ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

Of course, his threat in front of goal is less than what his Belgian teammate can provide, but Chelsea were unable to retain the ball well enough to bear any fruit from Lukaku’s qualities in September.

The duo of Timo Werner and Mason Mount could provide support for him through the flanks.

Here’s an illustration of the possible lineup below:
