Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker has finally ended his association with the Blues as he joins English club Stoke City on a permanent deal. The English midfielder rose from the Blues academy to the first team before leaving.
Baker featured in Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Chesterfield few days ago, but will continue his football career with the Potters. He won the FA Youth Cup and Under-21 Premier League and was also named Chelsea’s Young Player of the Year in the 2013-14 season.
Chelsea released an official statement on their website to confirm the departure of Lewis Baker to Stoke City.
“Lewis Baker has today signed for Championship side Stoke City on a permanent deal, bringing to an end his 17-year association with Chelsea,” the club stated.
“The midfielder departs having progressed through our Academy ranks to make two senior appearances for the club, the most recent of which came last weekend as a substitute in our FA Cup victory against Chesterfield.”
