Chelsea’s injury boost ahead of their crucial match against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions league

This morning at Cobham, Chelsea trained in preparation for their Champions League group stage matchup against AC Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Edouard Mendy, Marc Cucurella, and N’Golo Kante all participated in this morning’s training session in preparation for tomorrow’s match at Stamford Bridge, giving Chelsea a triple injury boost ahead of their crucial Champions League match against AC Milan.

Since Chelsea’s match against Tottenham in the second game of the season, Kante has been absent. The Frenchman injured his hamstring in the 2-2 draw with Spurs and has missed the past nine games across all competitions.

Mendy has missed the previous three games due to knee tendon injury. The goalkeeper missed the weekend victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park as well as the Champions League games against Dinamo Zagreb and Red Bull Salzburg.

Marc Cucurella was also absent from the win over Palace on Saturday due to illness. It is believed the Spaniard had a throat issue that needed attention. Nevertheless, he returned to training this morning and will be a candidate to start again given that he was not on International duty last week.

Speaking at the weekend about the fitness of injured players, Graham Potter said: “They’re absolutely fine in terms of coming through their rehab stages. Ngolo has just been on the grass with the team but not full training. Edouard is a bit further on but hasn’t had enough to be involved at the weekend. Maybe next week for him.”
