Why Chelsea Will Pay £50,000 to England FA

 This season alone Chelsea have accumulated 27 yellow cards in their first seven games. This puts them on pace to finish the campaign with over 146 bookings if they maintain the current rate of nearly four yellow cards per match. This would easily surpass their own record of 105 yellow cards from last season, which had beaten Leeds United’s previous high.

After the international break Both Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana will miss Chelsea's next game against Liverpool, as they have become the first Premier League players this season to reach five yellow cards. The club is also set to be fined £50,000 by the FA for receiving six or more yellow cards in a game twice already this season, once in the match against Nottingham Forest and another time against Bournemouth.

In previous game, a total of 14 yellow cards were handed out, the highest-ever tally in a Premier League match, with six going to Chelsea. Both Chelsea and Forest could face further charges from the FA for failing to control their players during a 1-1 draw, with Nicolas Jackson potentially facing retrospective action for an incident involving Forest substitute Morato.

for non-foul-related offenses, with all three of Cole Palmer’s bookings coming from dissent. Cucurella has received two of his five yellow cards for arguing with officials, while all of Fofana’s bookings have come from fouls.

 Premier League are subject to a one-match suspension if they accumulate five yellow cards within the first 19 games of the season. A two-match suspension follows if a player receives 10 bookings by the 32nd game, and a three-game ban is imposed for 15 yellow cards – something no player has yet reached.
