In the past 48 hours, Chelsea and Napoli have engaged in fresh negotiations to discuss the structure and payment terms for a potential transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Both clubs acknowledge that the talks will require more time to address the technical complexities of the deal, with no resolution expected before mid-August.
The success of the operation largely hinges on the fixed fee Chelsea is prepared to pay. Sources close to the negotiations reveal that the Blues are unwilling to exceed €60 million, while Napoli's demands include Romelu Lukaku and either Trevoh Chalobah or Cesare Casadei, plus an additional €80-90 million in cash.
Another meeting is scheduled in the coming days to continue discussions, with key details expected to be finalized soon.
It's important to note that PSG is not a viable option for Osimhen, despite various reports. Although his representatives have approached the French club, PSG have indicated their priority lies in acquiring a winger. With Luis Enrique satisfied with current central strikers Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos, the Ligue 1 giants are not pursuing Osimhen.
As Osimhen remains eager to leave Napoli this transfer window, Chelsea, Napoli, and the player himself will need to make concessions to finalize the deal.
