Chelsea signs Aston Villa Youngster Omari Kellyman

 

Omari Kellyman, the England under 20 player has become Chelsea third signee this summer.

Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano, have signed the youngster in a transfer deal worth £19m from Aston Villa. He is expected to be unveiled by the London outfit soon after he aced the club’s medical.

Kellyman,  plays as an attacking midfielder, is Chelsea’s third signing this summer after Tosin Aderabioyo and Estevao Willian from Palmeiras.

Kellyman’s transfer move from Aston to London came as a surprise as transfer proceedings were kept off the sleuthing eyes of the media. Furthermore, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the former Northern Ireland U17 star has signed a six-year contract with the London outfit till 2030.

Kellyman will be hoping to build his burgeoning career at Stamford Bridge after his 2023 breakout campaign with Aston Villa. He made only 2 Premier League appearances for the Aston-based outfit and tallied 9 appearances in all competitions.

Born on September 15, 2005, Kellyman is 18 years old and will be celebrating his 19th birthday as a Chelsea player next year. began his football journey in 2012 at Derby County Academy at the age of 7. He played for Derby County Youth for 10 years before Aston Villa Academy in 2022. After a year with the Villains youth side, he was promoted to Derby County’s first team in 2023. He made His Premier League debut on April 3, 2024, in Aston Villa’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City and went on to win one more Premier League cap before his slated move to Chelsea.

From 2022 to 2024, Kellyman made 3 appearances for Aston Villa U21, scoring one goal. He rallied 6 appearances for Aston Villa’s first team in all competitions. Overall, he has made 9 club career appearances, scoring one goal.

The young midfield has yet to earn his call-up to England’s senior side but has won some caps with the youth side. He first played for Northern Ireland U17 in 2021, making 3 appearances and scoring 2 goals. In 2022, he transitioned to the team’s U18 and won three caps. He switched to England’s youth side in 2023, joining England U19 and winning 7 caps. In 2024, he has made 2 appearances with the team’s U20 side.

Omari Kellyman according to Fabrizio Romano, Kellyman,  has successfully completed his Chelsea medical and has penned down a lengthy contract with the London outfit. He has reportedly agreed to a six-year contract that will keep him at the club till 2030.

Kellyman’s Chelsea salary has yet to be disclosed as we are filing this report. However, the youngster is likely to earn a considerably higher wage than he does at Aston Villa. His salary at Aston Villa was also undisclosed
